Q: Why don’t you accept my insurance? Why don’t you bill my insurance?
A: There are many reasons and motivating factors in why I have chosen to provide a direct-pay clinic. The layers of brokenness in our current healthcare system are too complex to dissect, but a few stand out as major issues that Health4Life seeks to avoid. One is insurance control over patient care and reimbursement. When a provider signs a contract with a health insurance company, they are bound to abide by their rules and regulations and the fee that the insurance company sets for certain services. Since being in practice for 10+ years, I have not see the reimbursement fee go up, but rather down over time. However, the cost to run a business has gone up over this same period. The second part of taking insurance is being at the mercy of medical necessity reviews. It does not matter what is wrong with the patient, when that patient has seen a chiropractor for a certain number of visits or has crossed a threshold of an arbitrary dollar amount, the insurance company cuts off care. When they do this, we are told a month after the visit has occurred and that visit plus all the ones since that arbitrary cut off date are written off and the provider is completely responsible to absorb the costs of seeing that patient during that time. Insurance companies are a for-profit business that cares about their bottom line and not the health of their insured. I’ve seen it time and time again and I’ve decided not to play their game. For these two reason, and about a billion others, we have decided to do an affordable direct pay option.
Q: Am I able to use my HSA?
A: Absolutely! They work great for our office. You can use a HSA check or card.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Cash, check, or credit/debit card
Q: Am I able to submit receipts to my insurance company to apply to my deductible or health insurance plan?
A: I do not provide superbills to submit to your insurance.
Q: What if I don’t want to schedule online?
A: We prefer you schedule online, but no problem! Just call 715-598-7144 and we’ll get you scheduled.
Q: Do you take walk-in appointments?
A: We do. However, it is best to call, even if it is just a few minutes before, to verify I am in the office. Many times, I will work on things outside the office if no one is scheduled.
Q: Am I able to pay for my care on a payment plan?
A: We would agree on the payment plan terms prior to receiving care. Yes, we would just need a valid credit card on file to process every month.
Q: Does Dr. Tim see kids?
A: Absolutely! He’s had a lot of experience on his own 3 kids and many other patients from birth on up.
Q: What can I expect on my first visit?
A: You will experience minimal paperwork, a consultation, examination, and adjustment by Dr. Tim
Q: Will I need to commit to a long-term care plan?
A: The short answer–no! We will discuss your care and together will come up with a plan of action moving forward that you are comfortable with.
